AMD and Intel: Do I need thermal paste?

Will I need thermal paste before installing either of these CPUs? Is it really needed? I didn't use it on the last computer I built, and it's working fine.

YES absolutely! Have you checked the temps on the other computer!? And you install it on top of the CPU, and then seat the cooler. Not sure why you said "before", maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Unless you installed the stock cooler which should have this type of thermal tape attached to the base already.But there should be something, haha.

Yeah, I'd be using the stock cooler that comes with it for both. So if I do use those I won't need to buy new thermal gel? It just comes on it?

Yes

Thermal paste is pre-applied to the stock cooler, and don't need for new thermal paste. Thermal paste is needed when something that is not the stock cooler, like an Aftermarket Cooler.
