Bitcoin Security Question

I understand the gravy train that is bitcoin has passed, but my question is the security necessary for bitcoin.

It seems like there is no secure way of mining, moving, or purchasing bitcoins for any reason.

Several questions:

1) Is the main bitcoin software safe and secure to run on a linux system?
http://bitcoin.org/en/download

2) Can I print bitcoin certificates, to exclude the use of an online or on-system wallet? Will I need a wallet? How secure are they?

3) Where can I exchange BIT for USD or other world currencies?

Answer to 3 is yes you can exchange to real US dollars.
I won't recommend any brokers because I'm not familar with the US scene.
Google is your friend.

Answer to 2 is I would strongly avoid online wallets for anything more than small
change.

Use a wallet on your own system. I use Bitcoin-qt. It has an encrypted wallet.
Use a long randomish pass-phrase.
Keep backups secure and offsite, offline.
Keep your system secure ie linux (or better still se-linux ) with a firewall setup
Use tiger script or similar to test config your security.
If you have lots to lose then use vpn access to the net.

I have been looking at Litecoin.

Here is the thing:

1) It seems like there is a secure way of storing litecoins on a personal system:

https://litecoin.org/

Here, it would be the same as bitcoin-qt.

Would it be safe to create an indepenent linux partition on a usb stick and operate the OS alongside the miner? Basically, install a distro onto the usb and run the usb on a miner. How can I secure the miner to prevent intrusion, invasion, theft of litecoins and personal information.

2) To sell litecoins:

Where can I sell litecoins for USD? What is the most secure way of selling? How do I prevent revealing private information? Identity theft? I guess anonymity is key here. I do not want anyone to know my name, even more personal information than required. How can I cash out without tying my personal information with the exchange in case there is a majoer attack and my informatio is stolen, whether from the miner, wallet, exchange, or even the bank!

3) What miner software is recommended? What hardware is recommended?
