removing mobo for heat sink fan?

If a get an new hsf (cm hyer 212 evo) will i have to remove the motherboard to install it? Heres my motherboard and case if it helps

It is better to remove your MB first so you could easily install the backplate of the hsf. In case that you can remove and replace the backplate while it is still in the case then its okay.

So if my case doesnt have a removable backplate then taking out the mobo is required?

Your board has a removable backplate. Its just that its kinda hard to manage replacing it while its in the case. But yeah you can still replace it without removing from the case.
