Upgrading gfx card

Hi, I'm currently looking to upgrade my gfx card, I currently have a GT 430. I have a ASUS M4N68T-M V2, and 600w power supply. I'm looking for the best/most optimal nvidia gfx card I can get for under $400.

For under $400/Nvidia, the 770gtx is the way to go. I just bought one myself yesterday. Ready to give it a try this coming week.

AMD phenomII x4 840 3.2 GHz
8GB DDR3

My main concern is compatibility, will the PCIe 2.0 slot on my motherboard be ok with the 3.0 card slot?

Yes it will. Graphic cards are backwards compatible. PCI 2.0 will do fine. Most builds don't even use all of PCIe 2.0 capability. (Unless you SLI 780s or titans etc)
