I need to buy a cpu for my new build, and i was wondering if i should buy the i7 4930K or the 4960X. I am looking for price to performance ratio bc i am on a budget. I know there is a small performance difference between the two but i was also wondering if the 4960x is more overclockable than the 4930k. thanks in advance!

For video editing w/ CS6, C4D, etc.

in theory yes, the 4960x should be more overclockable because on the binning proccess the best pieces of silicon would get labeled as the latter.

with that said, the 4930k should be more then plenty for most tasks and the diff in price for bragging rights only is just not worth it in my opinion. you should overclock a cpu only if you need the extra power. not just for kicks. and these cpu-s are both great performers even not overclocked.

Agreed with Someone.

If you game: get a 4670k. hands down.

Working on professional applications? Get a 4930k- the extra $500 for a extreme honestly just isn't worth it.

If you video edit, but aren't doing it hardcore- a 4770k would be a good choice.

I would be able to give you a better selection if you told us would you'd be using this computer for though.

If your doing this professionally and constantly, a 4930k and atleast 16GB of RAM would be perfect for you.
