Hi I'm planning on buying parts for a gaming rig from the ground up. I've been reading a lot about the Intel 3rd and 4th gen processors, but I'm still unsure of which processor to get (either an Ivy Bridge or Hasswell). I'll need to buy a motherboard for this new build so either way will work. Can anyone offer some helpful advice? Also, I'd like this computer to accept new Intel processors (like, say, Broadwell?) so which socket type would be best for a new build?

If Broadwell desktop does come out, it's still being said it will be socket 1150, so you'd want to go that way and prob pair it with a 4670K (i5) unless you also have a need for Hyper threading in which case you'd want to look at the i7 4770K - for the 1150 mobos I'd look at Asus they seem to have the best handle on the Z87/Haswell, I ended up choosing the Asus Maximus Hero - best I've worked with over 30+ Haswell builds

What GPU would you pair with the i5 4xxxK to get the most out of games like Skyrim, ESO, Starcraft and BF4? I was gonna get the R9 280X is that sufficient for a 1080p display?
