Blue Screen Confusion

I'm pretty sure my Cd-Rom is broken because it won't read disks anymore. Can anybody tell me if this would cause a blue screen when not in use? I think the reason I'm having blue screens and freezing is because of my hard drive but I want to make sure. The last blue screen I had said Kernel Data inpage error, which I found out has to do with my hard drive. Blue screens occur when I browse the internet and open Steam lately. Is there something I can do to fix this without replacing my hard drive? Thanks for any responses.

Solution
Use a SMART utility to check the reallocated sector count. There are many; HDTUne, HD SEntinel, Smartmon, CrystalDiskInfo...

Reallocating sectors can cause BSoD's as can programs that reference specific clusters that have been moved.

I just unplugged it, so I'll wait to see if I get a blue screen again. Before I did that I ran a dskchk and this is what I got for the report.

Does this mean my hard drive is okay? It says Windows has checked the file system and found no errors, also there are 0 KB in bad sectors.

So my hard drive is okay? Also I forgot to mention that I don't always blue screen, sometimes my screen just freezes. The last one happened while playing HearthStone, while also watching a live stream on Twich.

well leave it with the cd rom plugged out and see if it happens again and we'll take it from there. can be anything from psu, cpu, gpu, motherboard, even ram. hell i've seen one where after checking everything it turned out the power cable was broken.

Okay so I downloaded HD Tune Pro trial version yesterday and ran an error scan and no blocks came up as damaged. I was just on my computer playing Hearthstone while on Twitch again, and it suddenly just froze, so I ended up restarting. I'm going to run the microsoft memory diagnostic tool later today to check my ram. I want to mention quick that my headset doesn't show up under devices and and printers; I don't know if that means anything. Going to unplug my headset and see what happens thought.
