First time building a gaming PC

Hey friends,

I had a few questions:
1. Will I be able to build a computer without any prior knowledge doing so? (I know how the parts work in conjunction with each other and what they do)
2. What could I improve/save on this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2cbRh build. I'm looking to add a second video card in the near future.

My purposes are gaming, and I'll be happy if i can get the golden 60 fps on most graphically intense games even if not run at max settings.

I would really appreciate any help/recommendations I could get regarding this potential build. I'm venturing into the world of PC building for the first time, so any input will be gladly taken!

The build looks good. Just make sure you include an OS. You will probably be fine building if you just follow all the steps and read the manuals, and make sure you can be as ANTI-STATIC as possible. And don't rush the build, take all the time you need!

Yes. Do you where the ram goes? Put it in. That's all there is to it. GPU? again, put it in. CPU? Again put it in, try to put it in evenly and not drop it. Install standoffs for mobo, plug in your PSU cables, connect your CD/HDD/SSD and you're good.

You can get an anti-static wrist band if you want, I use one.

As for improving, do you need a blu-ray, or do you just want one? I don't even have a CD drive anymore, I just dremelled it out and put another 20cm fan in place.

Also your CPU is not a K model? If not it may not be overclockable, and if you're hot gonna OC then drop the custom cooler.

Other than that pretty solid, check to make sure AMD's R7/8/9 or whatever it is series don't have a better GPU for the money. Just wiki AMD R9 gpus, check the name and the price, if it's within your price range check tne benchmarks and compare. (taking into account that one benchmark may have been with a better CPU).

I forgot to mention I have a copy of Windows 7 already.

I definitely want to have the CD drive there, but blu-ray is definitely not needed. I could probably swap it out for something a bit cheaper.

How much would overclocking the processor do gaming-wise if I were to get the K model of the same processor/is it worth the upgrade?

Could I add another gpu in the future with the current parts? The motherboard is SLI ready.

Again, I appreciate the help lots!

-Changed the processor to an overclockable one.
-Switched motherboards to one just as good, but cheaper.
-Cheaper ram.
-Samsung 840 EVO SSDs are very reliable, fast, and relatively cheap.
-Stronger gpu.
-Better quality case. Corsair C70 isn't very great.
-Better quality, cheaper, and bigger psu for future crossfire.
-Dropped the un-necessary blu-ray.

I definitely think I'll be going with realchaos' and RadRam's recommendations, and thanks to DanLikesTech for the boost of self-confidence.

If/when I do decide to go through with building it I'll update the thread with pics/results. Thanks to everyone who helped!
