I have 2 WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA III, 32 MB Cache - WD10EALX drives in my computer now. They are the C & D drives. I was thinking of getting a third drive and was wondering if there would be compatibility issues if I used a WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache - WD10EZEX.

Turns out the 64 MB cache is 20 bucks cheaper. Only difference I can see is the cache size. No, I don't plan to arrange them in a raid; they will be 3 separate drives.

Any problem with getting a third drive that is a bit different from the other 2?

Solution
You can use any combination of SATA drives you like - plenty of people use SSDs and HDDs, for which the question of cache doesn't have an easy answer.

Only issue is if you use RAID and the drives are a slightly different size.
