Hey I'm having some trouble with my newly built computer, it's freezing at random places (more often than not just when I am looking at my internet browser or if it is just sitting idle), no blue screen just the computer stopping all tasks and forcing me to do a hard shutdown.
RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Proc: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155
Video Card: ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB

Windows Memory Diagnostic was run and no problems found, any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Sound like you may not have set the power settings. Click the power icon in the tray, select More Power options. Select Show Additional plans and select High Performance. Now select the options on the left like Change when the computer sleeps, or choose when to turn off the display and most importantly Choose what the power buttons do. Set them to what you want them to do and then see if when you leave it sitting does it have a problem now? If still yes then

Last test, unplug the wired connection or disable / disconnect the wireless, and let it 'sit' running as you said is when it crashes. Does it lock up now? If no, then try when connected to the internet, does it do it again? If so most likely there is a virus. Best bet would be to...
PSU ??? HDD???? Does this happen when running in Safe mode? If so then the Windows possibly needs to be reinstalled. If it doesn't happen in Safe mode then lets run a few tests to narrow down 'when' it happens. Run Word for a while, does it happen then? Does it happen when you play a game in SINGLE PLAYER mode? Does the freezes happen only with ONLINE activities? Does the free happen in different games playing Multiplayer mode?

HDD I run windows on is: Hitachi Deskstar 750GB HDS721075CLA332
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 B
It did not happen in safe mode but I wasn't really doing anything, left it overnight in safe mode for about 8 hours. It rarely happens while I'm actually using the computer, it happens when I leave it alone for a few hours or if I go to sleep or work when I come back it is frozen. I'm using the same hard drive as my old PC when freezes like this did not happen, it is only happening now with the newly built one. As far as gaming it has not happened during single or multiplayer games yet.

Best bet would be to use DBAN to wipe the drive completely clean then reinstall cleanly windows, drivers, etc. all over.

Check your hard disk for bad sectors. If some of the sectors go corrupted or witness errors, it can cause frequent and annoying Crashes/Freezes. Use Check Disk Utility to react accordingly.
