Motherboard not recognizing optical drive (as far as I know)

I have an ASrock z87 extreme4 motherboard and it isn't recognizing my optical drive
(Asus Drw-24b1st)
It is connected via the bottom SATA3_A0_A1 port, and my HDD (Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB) is connected via the bottom SATA3_0_1 port.
However, when I go into the UEFI (I can't find bios anywhere) and look at the system browser, I see that it only recognizes the SATA3_0_1 port (which is connected to the HDD) and doesn't indicate at all that the SATA3_A0_A1 port is being used at all.
Furthermore, when I open up my optical drive, it closes a second after opening automatically.

Can you please give me some input? I'm new to building computers, and after hours of putting my pc together, I'm now stuck at the software part.

Solution
Try a different sata port for the optical drive? maybe that will work? if it doesn't show up in bios I would think its a bad opti drive or bad sata port.
