Hey all, havent been on in awhile, but im in need of some expert help. So turns out I have the coolest brother ever and he bought me an 8350 for my birthday. Well coming froma 965 be at 4 ghz of course I want to overclock it but unike the 965 I dont want to brute force oc the 8350. So ive been messing around with the cpu frequencies, using THIS video, and THIS/THIS as guides. I can manage to get a 4.6 oc 10 small pfft prime 95 stable. But the catch is whenever I run a torture test or occt, it fails.

Im assuming this a ram issue, would I be right? But I honestly have no clue how to oc my ram. Im just looking for some general know how when it comes to fsb oc ive heard the term loosen timings and such, I'm reading a guide on understanding ram timings, so hopefully ill gain some knowledge there. I started with some basic clock ratio oc and got to 4.8 at 1.46 volts. It ran at about 47c-48c, so not terrible but a little warm(especially on water). Ive read that fsb oc can help you acheive higher clocks with less volts so thats awesome also that it helps with single core performance. Beside Im always looking to expand my knowledge. So anyone familiar with ocing piledriver, id certainly appreciate some help.

My specs
GA 990fxa-ud5 rev 1.1 bios f12
Fx 8350
8gb gskill ripjaws 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v
Ocz fatality 750w psu
Sapphire HD 7950
The cpu is cooled by an xspc 240 custom water loop. As it is underwater Id love to get to 5 ghz if possible.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: One thing he mentions in the video is that you might need to change frequencies to be closer to stock, he doesnt elaborate on this though so its a little confusing. Does this mean I want to lower multipliers until the frequencies are as close to stock as possible ie cpu/nb@2200, ht@ 2600, and dram@1600(im assuming so). Issue is at 230 cpu the dram's frequency is either 1518 or 1840, im assuming this is where my issue is coming from, should I leave it at 1518 or how do I make it stable at 1840, I tried the settings from my brothers 1866 gskills box and ive looked up suggestions on google, cant seem to get it stable and Id rather figure out what/why to change.
