Hello,

I was thinking of getting an i7 3770k but people always say: "Go for the newer."
Should I get the 3770k or 4770k is I want to overclock it to like 4.5ghz with a Phanteks PH-TC14PE?

Ivy Bridge overclocks more consistently than Haswell does, but that's not to say that the 4770k you get won't reach 4.5ghz or beyond with good cooling. The 4770k is faster overall, but really not enough to quibble about. So, to answer your question, I'd say you are more likely to definitely reach that overclock with the 3770k, than you are with the 4770k.

lol i love these questions, noone knows its called silicon lottery for a reason if you get lucky your chip will reach 4,5 or more if not you may get to only 4 or 4,2, there is no single one of those chips can guaranty you to get 4,5 , but in terms of performance they are both almost the same

Well, if I get a socalled "Bad silicon" I'm just going to De-lid it and put some other on there.
