Best cheap mobo for FX 6300

Guys would you please help me decide on which board should i go for my FX 6300 based budget gaming PC . . Thanks in advance on those who would take time to answer.


ASRock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0

ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0

Asus M5A97 LE R2.0

Gigabyte 970A DS3

Then the LE will do just fine at stock settings.
Out of those three, I'd recommend the Extreme 3. That was my back up board if I decided to skip the M5A97.

Are you planning to overclock?
I got an Asus M5A97 R2.0 for my FX 8320 (I overclock).
It's a GREAT budget board from a great company.
If you're going to overclock, don't get the LE because the lack of heatsinks.
If you are, the M5A97 R2.0 will do fine for minor overclocking.

I dont plan to OC, Will this Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 suffice? if ever its un-available . . Would you recommend any of the remaining 3 as my back up?

BTW do i need to update the BIOS on this 2 boards that you recommend?

Extreme 3 needs bios version 1.60 to run the 6300.
I know for sure the LE should support it out of the box, but updating the bios is recommended.
My 8320 worked with my M5A97 out of the box, I just updated the bios with a thumbdrive.

If its not supported by the BIOS of the board out of the box it should not work right? BTW do i understand your last statement right. . Ur 8320 worked out of the box but you still updated the BIOS? Why?

Asus has flashback ability so you can flash the bios without even turning it on. And no, it should not work if it's the wrong bios version.
Yes it worked out of the box, I just have a bit of OCD so I wanted the latest version ;-P
