HOW TO ENABLE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS AND EXTERNAL GRAPHICS SIMULTANEOUSLIY IN BIOSTAR Hi-Fi B85S3+ Ver. 6.x MOTHERBOARD

PLEASE REPLY

I'M NEW TO TOMSHARDWARE

EAGERLY WAITING FOR REPLY (ASAP ! ) :)

Thanks

You can enable Intel integrated graphics in the BIOS. Provided the processor is one that has integrated graphics.

To enter the BIOS, mash the Delete button when your PC is booting up.

I don't have a Biostar motherboard, so I can't tell you where in the BIOS you can find the setting to change.

Bro i'm noob

Can you clarify your comment ??

You only need Crossfire or SLI when you have two discreet graphics cards installed. Integrated graphics IS NOT a discreet graphics card.

What is a discreet graphics card? It's one that you can physically take out of the PC and the PC is still able to run.

So can i do the same i have mentioned above in the title without having sli/crossfire technology ??!

Yes, assuming your processor has integrated graphics. It probably does. If you want me to confirm it for you, you'll have to tell me what processor you have.

To check what processor is installed, right-click on the Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties.

Using intel i5 4670 paired with BIOSTAR Hi Fi B85s3+
HD 4600 graphics
but that's not my question :(

I wanna know that i can enable IGP + Discreet cards simultaneously on my MOBO or not

The HD 4600 graphics IS part of your i5-4670 processor, IT IS the IGP.

When both IGP and discrete graphics card are enabled, the computer will use the IGP for less demanding tasks like running normal programs and web browsers. When you run a graphically heavy application like a game, your discrete graphics card takes over because it is more powerful than the IGP.

So technically you CAN have both enabled simultaneously, but the computer cannot use both to process the graphics in games. Enabling IGP WILL NOT improve graphics performance in games. Most people who have IGP from their processors usually leave it enabled. Yours is probably enabled as well. And like I said previously, you will have to enter your motherboard's BIOS to make sure it is enabled.

Imagine that you own a big truck (the discrete card) as well as a scooter (the IGP). And you need to travel to someplace. If you are going alone (small workload) then you can use the scooter. But if you need to take your whole family with you (heavy workload), you would obviously use the truck instead. You can only drive one vehicle at a time, not both. With the IGP disabled, you don't have access to the scooter, and will have to use the truck even when travelling alone. But the truck uses more fuel and is not as environmentally friendly compared to a scooter.

That was well said :) (Y)

How can i know it's enabled or not in BIOSTAR Hi Fi B85s3+ ?

B/w my discreet card is such a trash (xfx hd 5450 2gb)

HD 4600 is more powerfull than that nah :)

Yes the 5450 is a very weak card. It is only as good as the Intel integrated HD 3000 (IGP) of older processors.

Might as well remove the 5450.

In this case, there is an easy way to tell if your IGP is enabled. Simply remove the 5450 and connect your monitor to the video port of the motherboard (it should have VGA or DVI ports)

If you are able to go into Windows normally, it means the IGP is enabled and doing its job. Problem solved.

If it is not, you will have to insert the card and enter the BIOS to turn the IGP on. To enter the BIOS, mash the Delete button when booting up.
I don't know where in the BIOS you will find the setting, but it should appear to be something like "Integrated Graphics" or "IGP".
