Hi guys,
I'm thinking of modding my computer case and want to know if I should upgrade my graphics card before I go ahead with the modifications. Current specs are:
i5-760 @ 2.8GHz with CoolerMaster V8 slapped on (going to overclock)
8GB ram
Radeon HD6870 running 2x 1920x1080 displays
I mainly play Planetside 2 at the moment and am happy with medium settings on most current and future gen games as long as I get a good 50+ fps at 1920x1080.
The question here is:
1) Whether it's worth upgrading the graphics card, or if I should just overclock and go ahead with the case mod and do a completely new system at a later time
2) The HD6870's fan goes completely ballistic when playing games, the noise is rather annoying and am thinking of using a third party cooling solution. Which of the following would you recommend?
- Slapping a third party air cooling solution onto the 6870
- Building a custom water cooling system for both CPU and GPU
