I own an ASUS K53Z laptop with an AMD A4-3305M Dual-Core APU. It is clocked at 1.9 GHz, but auto overclocks to 2.5 GHz. I'm looking for a new CPU/APU for this laptop that will be faster and will be compatible. I'm sort of new to these types of things so I don't know how to find a compatible CPU. When I go to the website, ASUS says there is no type of compatible CPUs for this specific laptop, but I see some people on the internet find new CPUs. If possible, please provide a list of compatible CPUs.

If i get it right... you are trying to find a CPU for a laptop right? I am sorry to inform you that CPU in a laptop cannot be changed. Few of the components of a Laptop, the CPU , GPU and Motherboard cannot be upgraded or changed for some other model.

You can decide which CPU you want the first time you buy the laptop, there are different laptops available with different type of CPUs and they cost differently depending on what kind of CPU you buy (Higher Performance CPU = Higher Price). But once you have a bought a laptop you cannot change the CPU or GPU. you can only change Ram or Hard Drive, but nothing else to increase performance.

I would suggest to sell your current laptop and use the money to buy a new laptop one with a CPU you think would do well for the performance you want. People on forum can help u in choosing the best laptop you can get for your budget.

My Answer was more generic and well out of ignorance.. :p i have never seen anyone replace a cpu on a laptop and i have been dealing with laptops and PCs since last 9 years. If this particular laptop has a replaceable CPU then i am enlightened. I will always keep the possibility in mind in future. Thanks for the help titanstats.

Swap out the A4 for an A8-3520M; it's an upgrade to a much more powerful quad core and a graphics engine that absolutely kills Intel based chip graphics. There are no issues with heat, battery life, or anything else with this upgrade. Cheap, too -- found one for $20 bucks! Add an SSD and you found yourself a nice ultrabook for cheap.

I have the exact same computer with an A6 vision. i noticed the A10 fits the same socket, is that the absolute best one for me? would it help to add a graphics card, or is it pointless? the radeon gfx in the apu seems to do pretty well with photoshop and illustrator.
