Hi,

I have an Asus N55SF that was given to me to fix up and keep. I've repaired laptops in the past but have never done anything with graphics cards before and am fairly clueless as to how to know if a graphics card is compatible.

It came with an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M 2GB graphics card but I have so far only managed to find this particular model in one shop and it's currently out of my financial reach. Online stores haven't been any better for finding a replacement.

All I'm looking for is either a link to a website I can buy this or an alternative, compatible card or a list of compatible cards.

Even a guide on how to figure out myself what cards would be compatible would be enough to get me sorted. I badly need this for college as my own netbook no longer runs most of the programs I use for college. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my wits end trying to find information.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean changeable as in I can't change the type or model of graphics card or do you mean I can't remove the graphics card? Because I had to replace the motherboard in it already, the graphic's card is removeable.

A guy in a repair shop said if I looked up similar models, instead of Asus N55SF, I look up N55AB, N55CD etc. and see the graphics cards on them that it is a good indicator that it might work in my model. Is this true or true to an extent?

Ahh, I downloaded the User Manual. I figured there was just 1 manual for everything.

Unfortunately, searches for the Service Manual aren't bringing up anything. I'm waiting for an email back from Asus and Nvidia, hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow and I'm going to call Asus tomorrow to ask directly. Cheers for the quick response USAFRet!
