my pc is very slow to start up and it has alot of junk on it i bought it at a pawn shop and want to clean it up with out having to pay 400 bucks to do so

Buy a Windows license for the laptop, install it. Should be about $100 for a Windows 7 OEM disk and key you can use on that laptop. Check with Compaq/HP support site and see what drivers are available. You may need to install XP or Vista depending on what drivers are available.
