If a motherboard says DDR1600/1333 MHz does that mean it cannot be use with DDR 2133 MHz ?

Solution

Price difference between your board and the one I picked is around $5 dollars.
But for a tight budget, then grab the DDR3 1600

Here are 3 types of ram and different ram speeds and all cost less than that Corsair

Splendid
It has XMP profile support so the ram if it's XMP supported will run at the advertised speed.
Just to be on the safe side and not take a gamble at it. get this board, it supports ram up to 2933

Not sure BUT
Getting that fast ram is so not worth so much more money for a tiny tiny performance increase, just get 1600mhz and maybe 1866.

Depends on motherboard support. On some boards it will run at 2133.
On other motherboards it will run at 1333 or 1600.
The above motherboard would would default to running at 1333 or 1600 depending on how its SPD tables are configured. With max speed of 1600 set in the bios.

Unless you are getting a good deal, less than 1600 speed price it is not worth spending extra for fast ram only to have it downclocked.

If this was for an AMD system with integrated graphics ,I would suggest purchasing it.
