im using my phone (Google nexus 4) as a router when I connect my phone to my laptop via wired connection it says it connexted

Sorry - long title and short post so I'm not sure what the problem is. Does it connect or not? Why are you cabling to the laptop and not using wireless? Set up the Phone in Settings>Wireless and Networks>Tethering and Portable Hotspots, name the Hotspot and set a password then let your laptop "see" that and join it with the password you provide.
