Evening all. Hope you're all ok me old springer spaniels.

Spent some days now researching builds - umming and ahhing over component choices. Here's what I've come up with so far:

(Updated November 2nd)
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/ChillaxedUpgrader/saved/30wF

For gaming recent and imminent releases on max settings.

If anyone could spare some time to cast a critical eye over this build I would be really interested to learn your thoughts.

Please note, I'm using my existing case, 500W PSU, DVD/RW and 64gig SSD (not gonna bother with internal magnetic drive) with this build. Not going to overclock for a while. When the time comes to overclock I'll get new PSU but I am confident that it can handle the load for now.

Oh yeah, also I'm aware that a 990FX motherboard would be ideal, but I've had to shave prices a bit and considered processor and GPU to be more important. I kept it to the M5A97 R2.0 rather than the even cheaper LE version because there seems to be better temperature management near the processor.

Thanks in advance! D

What kind of psu do you have? The AMD chips will draw quite a lot power, especially if you overclock them. I would go for either the fx-6300 or the fx-8320, the fx-6350 is not worth the extra money. You can also remove the cpu cooler and get a r9 280x.

Hi Praise, thanks for the reply. Um, without disturbing a sleeping baby I can't exactly ID the PSU. I know it's rated at 500w but it is about 3 years old - I understand this means a reduction in supply. However, I've consulted several calculators about my build (actually using the HD7950 for the example as I'm gunning for that now) and the only one that goes over 450w is asus. Extreme and MSI calculate 431 and 399. When the time comes that I want to OC, I will definitely go for a new PSU, but for stock speeds I am first going to try my existing one. I think that running only SSD helps, as they use next to no power (changed my mind about internal HDD)

I agree about the FX6300. Actually I can't imagine why I selected the 6350. Mad moment I think. Just going to update my plan and replace the link on this thread.

Oh, yeah, about the cooler. You say lose the 212. I guess I could wait until overclock time. But I did read somewhere on Toms that AMD stock coolers can be a bit loud. Any other thoughts about this?
Thanks once again Praise, really appreciate it. Any other thoughts feel free to hit me with them.
