Ok i just bought the Asus Sabertooth Z87 with a new processor. The problem that i am having is that it will only boot up with ram in the last two slots. It will not take any ram in the first to slots or combination of first two and last two.

I have tired three different types of ram same results. The DRM Led just stays red.

I have ordered new 16gb two 8gb stick which will go in the working slots. But what if i later want to upgrade to 32gb and those two still don't work.

Anyone come across this or have a solution?

Can try blowing out the slots with compressed air, and installing in the slots firmly on both sides, but to be honest sounds like it may be the MC (memory controller) in the CPU or the mobo itself, might pull the CPU and make sure no debris on bottom of CPU or in the socket and no bent/broken pins in the socket

I know this sounds dumb, but I had the same problem. One stick of RAM wasn't completely seated. I had to push harder than normal to get it to seat properly. Even though it clicked and locked, it required an extra push.

Had same problem only boot in first 2 slotts
So booted into bios changed memory volts to 1.6 volts not 1.5
Exit saved bios then put memory into dual slots the beige ones
Worked ever since
