As of right now, I am running an fx-6350, 8gb of ddr3 1600 ram, two hardrives, 6 case fans,1 CD drive, motherboard is an asrock 990fx extreme 3, a corsair cx500 psu and finally an radeon hd 7770 GHZ. I want to upgrade to an r9 270x, should I get a 650 watt power supply, or would I be able to keep this 500 watt one?

eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite says that my usage should be around 502 watts, is this accurate?

it's at the limit. best you can do is get the gpu and upgrade the psu if you end up with stability issues. (might get a bit unstable while gaming)

You should be good with your 500w, the calculators will show worst case and more.

That 500 will run your setup , but I'd recommend a 650w in the near future , no overclocking at all with the CX500.

If you want to overclock you will need a better power supply.
