I have just purchased the hp 500-123ea tower with the Radeon HD 8470 GPU that came included in the tower when purchased. However I cannot find any information about this card on the internet. I would like to know what would be a good GPU to upgrade to. (I have decided on an nvidia GPU as all the games I have seem to rate it on the case or in the game intro) I would prefer a PCI Express x16 card if possible. Also my motherbord is the Memphis-S IPM87-MP and I have the windows 8 operating system if that helps.

Thanks

I apologize again. After digging deeper, it appears that the 8470 is comparable to Intel HD 4000. In which case the HD 7750 is of course a step up.

With your PSU and Low Profile needs it is either the HD 7750 or GT 640(ddr5 only since this version only requires 300w).

The HD 7770 though may work with your PSU, I can't find a low profile one.

The GTX 650 requires a 400w PSU.

Low Profile GT 640 2GB DDR5

Low Profile AMD HD 7750 1GB DDR5
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11202-10-20G-Profile-Graphics-Eyefinity/dp/B008H7T7YI

Just to muck it up a bit more. The 7750 should be the clear winner in most benchmarks, look here...

Thank you for your response can you suggest a compatable psu upgrade then? thanks again!

that radeon is an oem version if i m not mistaking. you may have problems with the psu on the pc the big oem-s such as hp usually make sure to use minimum margins on max tdps.

the hd 7750 is your best bet most likely because it doesn't require an additional power connector...

The case I have is the one that comes with my pc model (HP Pavilion 500-123ea) I cant find the name of the case the Dimensions are (W x D x H) 38.5 x 17.6 x 36.8 cm (15.2 x 6.9 x 14.5 in) the hp website classes it as a "microtower" also just looking at it I think I can only have a single slot and low profile card. The on I am looking at now is this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Graphics-Express-Mini-HDMI/dp/B0089DRID2/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1385942394&sr=1-1&keywords=single+slot+graphics+card

however I dont think it will fit with Product Dimensions: 40 x 25 x 6 cm and I am aware i will still need to upgrade the psu

I'm sorry. I looked up the hp 500 123ea and thought it was one of those midtower cases. I don't think you will be able to upgrade the psu in that case. Sorry so Laviniu is totally correct. However the 7750 is not much of an upgrade if at all. Even a 7770 would not be worth it.
Can you get at the psu and look for how many amps are on the 12v rail? It may even have two 12v rails.

So Laviniu Campean quickly answered this while I screwed around. Heh
