Ram won't run at default speed

So I have a total of 16gb ( 4 × 4gb ) of Ddr3 ram. The ram is suppose to run at 1866 But my bios sets the ram to 1600 and any time I try to adjust it 1866 and set the timings, when I save and leave the bios my computer will turn on and everything but I get no video single. Then when I turn it off and back on I get a message saying pc failed to boot and it resets my bios to default.

I didn't have this problem before when I just had 8gb of ram but when I bought another set and added to it I got this problem.

Look in the BIOS for a DOCP, EOCP or XMP setting, (think DOCP on your mobo) enable it and select 1866, if problems may need additional DRAM and CPU/NB voltages - let us know

It has a XMP and I use that but still nothing. I have the CPU NB set higher because I have the CPU overclocked. But I had this problem before I overclocked it.

Do you have the latest BIOS? Might be your individual 6350 can't carry 1850...I'd try the DRAM at 1.575 and the CPU/NB at 1.25

Why would it not support it with 16gb but it did at 8gb. And their is a bios update but it's a small one. I will try it though. And I believe the CPU NB is at 1.25 or it might be a little lower. When I get home I will try the new bios and up the voltages.

AMD doesn't have strong Memory Controllers, it's not unusual to be able to run 4-8 GB at 1866 then have to drop to 1600 or even 1333 with 16GB - especially the FX CPUs - here's their memory guide (and testing to make this up was done with 4 GB sticks

I seem to be encountering another problem now. When ever I go to restart or shut down my computer it just stays on the screen saying Restarting or Shutting Down and has the loading wheel loading but nothing happens.

Try booting into SAFE mode, if that works OK, then try again to Win

So I tried adjusting the voltage like you said. And same problem. So I checked the Dr debug and according to Dr debug it's, "PEI Core is started"

May be stuck trying to run them at 1600 or even 1333 - do you have the latest BIOS and all the latest mobo drivers? Might want to bench it and test, have a guide that might help here:

Off subject question. How do I update my CPU's microcode? When I go into my bios I notice that the microcode shows 2 different numbers. So I'm assuming it's needing a update.
