I have narrowed my monitor choices down to theBenQ XL Series XL2420TE and the ASUS VG248QE. I know there are other threads that have addressed this specific topic, but my main concern is the g sync. From what I have gathered the Benq seems to be the better choice if you don't factor in the do it yourself gsync upgrade kit the Asus will offer. Is g sync really that worth it? I would have to spend another $170 or so to get it implemented. I favor the benq, but the future gsync upgrade the asus offers is making me second guess my choice. Thank you for your time.

Honestly, I would wait untill g-sync monitors actually get released. G-sync monitors have a special chip in them and if you were to get a monitor now, you would have to somehow get the chip and install it into the monitor. When both monitors do get g-sync, I would get the BenQ XL2420TE. It has better color reproduction than most TN panels. Some people swear by Asus, but in the end, the BenQ is better quality

I'm doing my first pc build right now and I am ready to order the parts. I would wait, but that could be around 6 months or longer I would have to wait and I don't own a monitor at the moment. That is why I'm struggling with the decision right now. Is g sync as revolutionary as I have heard?

I have exactly the same issue as you do, and I'm getting nowhere.

Fortunately I do have a monitor, but unfortunately it's not a very good one as there is ghosting and blur everywhere.

So I can't really wait until I order a new one, but actually I think I'm just going to wait and save up more to get the XL2420TE with G-Sync, or maybe even a better one that could be potentially released in the future.

Yeah I wish I could have done something like that. I ended up getting the asus and it is a great monitor.

What is the colour reproduction like on it? I'm only really interested in the BenQ XL2420TE because of the increased colour reproduction and flicker-free screen.

I'm really not sure if I should wait or not.

Honestly I couldn't really tell you personally. It looks great to me, but I was using a hdtv before this. My brother tried out both the benq and asus. He is affected by pwms and the benq's flicker free didn't fix his issue. It still gave him headaches and hurt his eyes. He also didn't mess around with the settings for either monitor, but said the out of the box colors of the asus were better than the benq.
