Micro-ATX for gaming

Solution
Micro ATX is more limited than ATX but still you can build a complete gaming pc on one, as I have always done. ATX is more suitable to enthusiast gamers that want to store, example, 3 hard disks, two GPUs and have a good airflow. Micro ATX is the compact way.

Some examples for your scenario:
Asus Gryphon Z87
Asrock Z87M Extreme4
Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H
^Not really, no. After a certain point, there's no reason to add a whole bunch more to the motherboard budget.

That being said, your questions are perfectly valid - usually the motherboard choices are narrowed down to the barest possible minimum by the rest of the computer.

I disagree about that, Panda. You can easily do mATX with all of that and a little planning. (Though I am biased towards small form factors - I've always built mATX and now mini-itx, and love the challenge of it.)

That being said, the Asus ROG series is INCREDIBLE when it comes to packing features onto a small motherboard.

Hehe..
Yeah, to be honest there has been a culture in which we think MicroATX was not suited for us. And that must be change, because as tech advances, the size must decrease according to it. In a microatx case, you can usually place two graphics cards (because it have 4 expansion slots), in a motherboard featuring your 8 channel audio, several usbs, 4 ram dimms, etc... When it comes to storage, the average is 2-3 drives and 1-2 disk readers.

I love smaller form factors. I'm looking at making a build in the new Bitfenix Colossus Mini cause it looks so great. As for the board, I'm going with the ASRock Z87M Extreme4. Thanks again, forums!
