hey guys, i have FX 8350, 8GB RAM, XFX 7870. I do have a 970 chipset which unfortunately has one 16x slot and one 4x slot. I would love to know what kind of performance increase I would get. I would also like to know what performance decrease I would get compared to 2 16x slots on my motherboard. I did hear somewhere that mid-range cards didnt have as much of a problem with 4x. Any answers are greatly appreciated

I was considering the same and upgraded my board to a 99fx just in case I want to xfire someday. From what I read, it was like a 10-20% hit from the 4x slot, but they do xfire really well and 50-100% boost in a lot of games, so you will get a boost. from 30% to 90% I guess from one end of the extreme to the other depending on the game.

I probably will in the future, my roommate and I built the same PC's, so if he upgrades his video, I can xfire the 2 cards since they're the same, I don't have to worry about finding two of the same brand, etc and went to the 99fx for the 8x lanes.
