I am planning on putting windows on the SSD and nothing else. all other things will be going on a 1 TB hard drive. is this okay to do?

Just the OS? Yes, but you would quickly run out of space wwith page file, hibernation file, and other windows updates. Would highly recommend at least 60GB (only $50, if you're in the States: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A35X6GM/?tag=pcpapi-20) or 100/120GB (only $52 for OCZ 100GB: http://www.microcenter.com/product/413844/Vertex_2_OCZSSD2-2VTX100G_100GB_SATA_30Gb-s_25_Internal_Solid_State_Drive_(SSD)_with_SandForce_Controller).

A vanilla install of Win7 will just barely fit on a 30GB drive. But it will not actually be usable. You will spend all of your time chasing the tiny bit of free space on that drive, rather than actually using it.

If you have not yet bought this, don't.
