As an amateur computer person, I have always wanted to build my own computer. And today, I finally have. I have it all set up with all my used parts and I turn it on. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. It does that for about 5 seconds and than stops. After about 2 seconds, it starts again and goes BEEEEEEEEEEEEP where I promptly turn it off. Ik the beep could be due to a failing component. What should I try?

Solution
Also it's a really bad PSU.

Believe it or not, I paid no money to buy this system. I started praying about a month ago and the parts just started rolling in.

It's the graphics card. I tried a different one in and it worked. One thing I did notice was that the gpu's power plug wasn't plugged in and there is no cord for one. The gpu I tried required no power cord. Perhaps this could be the issue? It also turns on and then it turns off. On, off. Over and over again. The screen stays black. Is this it saying that it has no hdd?

If im not mistaken 2 long beeps on an MSI board means memory problems? Is it 2x 4GB ram? tell me the exact ram u got acutally. and how its installed in the mobo.

MSI boards are either AMI BIOS or AWARD BIOS. Heres the beep codes for them, they are designed to tell you what the error is.
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

and heres AMI
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm

Look through that list and see which beep codes closely matches yours (if you DONT turn off the PC by holding down the power button, will it keep beeping?)

LOL I guess its more or less solved above, oops! well keep these post codes handy it could help
