Now before you say you don't need a i7 for gaming i already know this i just want a i7 that being said id love to know what is the best i7 for gaming at the moment.

i was looking at the Intel Core i7-3930K because its on sale for $469.99 20% off (120$ off) or the i7-4770k because it is also on sale for $309.99 11% off ($40.00 off). But i heard alot of stuff about haswell and how it runs hot and isnt as overclock able as the other i7s its why i am having problems picking what i7 i want. I do plan on overclocking but not right away so id like to know what is the best i7 for gaming for performance and future proofing. Is it even worth getting the new i7-4930k for gaming or go with somthing else?

Also want to know the best Gaming motherboard, Liquid Cooling and Ram i can get with that i7 i want to pick after i get some more information. Yes i do want to overclock just not right away

Thanks for your Help and information in advanced :) !!!

Haswell doesn't overclock as high, but it doesn't need to overclock as high to match Ivy Bridge's performance. The 4770k is the best gaming cpu you can get. Period.

So there is nothing wrong with the i7-4770k? i just heard alot of bad stuff about it so its why im kind of confused on what i7 to get. they say it runs to hot and isnt as overclock able is that true?

No there is NOTHING wrong with the 4770k. It is simply the BEST quad core cpu on the market.

What about the Intel Core i7-3930K? is it better than the i7-4770k for gaming?

No it is not. It is a 6 core cpu, but the 4770k is considerably stronger per core. The 4770k would be a lot better in gaming and most common tasks. The 3930k would be a bit better in extreme rendering or video editing.

Ok Thanks for your information! its much appreciated. So what is the best Gaming motherboard for the i7-4770k? One that has great performance and awesome overclocking i want one that will last me along time i don't want to have to replace my mobo and cpu because it sucks. Also the best 16gb ram for the motherboard and liquid cooling so i can overclock my i7-4770k to its limits! That would be a great help!

I have never seen a "bad" Z87 motherboard. Look around and find the cheapest one. There will be a sale on one somewhere.

Asus is a reputably brand. It would be fine.

Keep in mind, that every brand has their share of bad products. There are negative reviews of EVERY computer part out there. Don't let them sway you.

For everything and anything. It won't overclock as high as the 3770k it replaced, BUT it doesn't need to. It's single core performance is superior.

Get the 4770k. Temps are known to get a bit high but with decent cooling you should be able to crank it to 4.2-4.5 i believe!

Ok thanks for all your help and information You are awesome! im now leaning towards the i7-4770k i didn't really want to spend all the extra money anyways for a more expensive CPU. Now i need to know what is the best Motherboard , ram , and Liquid cooling! hehe

Temps are NOT known to get high in general. It just has a lower thermal headroom for overclocking, but once again, it doesn't need to overclock as high to match the 3770k.

I just did some fancy math and determined that a 4770k overclocked to 4.2ghz would be equal to a 3770k overclocked to 4.5ghz based on the roughly ~8% better single core performance of the 4770k. It would also be cooler and more efficient than the 3770k at those speeds.

ya i probably wouldn't overclock it that much 4.2 sounds good to me i dont want to burn the chip i want to be able to use this CPU for a very long time
