This is my current setup:

In the coat closet I have the media box. In that I have the setup as Comcast cable modem --> Vonage adapter --> Gigabit Switch --> connected to Room 1 and Room 2 (via wired cables)

Room1 - Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router --> Home Desktop, all wireless devices in the house.

Room 2 - Wired switch --> XBox, Roku, Samsung DVD player.

Issue:
I want all IP Addresses to be handed out by 1 router so that all of them are on the same network and can see each other. With my current setup, DHCP for Room 2 devices (XBox, Roku, Samsung DVD player) is given by the Vonage device.

This causes the iPhone smartglass and roku apps to not work. Internet works for all devices though.

Because of the location of the media cabinet, I am unable place the 4300 right after the vonage device.

I tried to put an older wireless router with wifi turned off as the DHCP right after the vonage device but then anything that is connected via WiFi to the 4300 gets a IP Address in the 192.168.1.x range and not the same range as the other router. (This is with DHCP turned off on the 4300) with the same issue.

Is there no way to fix this apart from moving the 4300 right next to the vonage device and getting a access point for upstairs?

Thanks!

Solution
Change the netgear to run as a AP rather than a router. This router I am pretty sure has this as a option otherwise you can do the standard lan-lan cable and disable the DHCP trick.
