Was I too eager to purchase? Corsair H55

Hello!

This is my first time joining/making a post on any forum like this but from what I have been reading it is truly an excellent community!

I recently purchase a Corsair Hydro Series H55 system to cool my i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz on my MSI P67A-C43 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard. I purchased the H55 along with a EVGA GTX 670 FTW to replace my EVGA 560 Superclocked. I do plan on playing video games like Assassin's Creed 4 and if my rig allows it, Watch Dogs, on the highest setting I can manage.

After my purchase I took to reading a bit more on the h55 and apparently there have been issues with leaks and some say that liquid cooling isn't necessary for those who don't overclock, which I do not plan on doing at the moment. I do, however, leave my computer on 24/7, so quietness is a big issue. In fact, I am replacing my Cooler Master HAF full tower with a NZXT Phantom Full Tower and hoping the fans will be better.

My question is was I too eager to purchase the Corsair? Should I return it or am I being too paranoid about the leaks/noise? Any and all help and information are greatly appreciated, thank you all for your time!

Well I think you were a little eager. The bad news isn't about the Corsair cooler, it's the fact that you won't be able to truly overclock as the 2400 has a locked multiplier. You be able to raise the frequency a little (to around 3.6 or 3.7). But nothing like a 2500k which can overclock to 4.5 Ghz easily.

I think the standard cooling will do you fine.

any aftermarket cooling is technically pointless if not overclocking but id would never use the stock cooler so ur fine lol. Leaking shouldnt be an issue and if it does corsair will cover replacement of the unit and if proven broken components. I have a Antec Kuhler H2O 620 and under load with a stock x6 1090t the fan can get quite loud but it moves quite a bit of air, so if ur going for noise levels maybe consider returning and getting something like a CM hyper 212 evo as its quiet and runs cool for around $30. Unless u got the H55 for a deal or the noise isnt bad then u have no problem.

That $30 seems much more reasonable than the $60 I ended up spending on the Corsair, so I suppose I didn't get a deal haha.

+1 to 3.6GHz :)
Using a ASUS Axe Square Extreme Limited Edition (long name lol) and stay under 40oC browsing and under 65oC in prime 95.

Good buy i actually have that monitor, except like the reviews on newegg some come with some green pixels, i have one that only shows up on dark screen and being its only one asus wont RMA it, just a warning but beside that great monitor
