Can I put this hard drive into a Desktop?

Solution

Sure. It will work. Probably slower than a regular 3.5" desktop drive, but it will work.

Not with that adapter, no. That is to mate a 2.5" IDE drive to a 3.5" IDE port.

If your PC has SATA ports, then you don't need any special adapter. The regular SATA will work. At most, you might need an adapter plate to mount it in a 3.5" slot.

Any mainstream motherboard you buy today will have several SATA ports.
What are you planning on doing with that laptop drive?
