Is getting an SSD worth it with my motherboard?

Hey everyone, so my computer takes forever to load. Literally takes 5mins or more before I can actually open anything without any delays after restarting it. So I was wondering if it's worth getting an SSD with my motherboard and putting my OS on there. I couldn't find out whether or not it supports SATA III (too many wires from my PSU to see anything). And if it doesn't is it still worth getting it? Also if not, what would be a good idea to improve my computer? Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated :D

Specs:
Motherboard: h-rs880-uatx
16gb RAM
AMD Phenom(tm) x4 910
ATI Sapphire Radeon 5970 2gb

I tried looking here for the information since this was what my computer was originally like, but I didn't come across anything useful.

well, first off, waiting for literally 5 mins means there is something wrong (regardless of the value of having an ssd). So i would suggest that you fix that first.

now for your question, yes it is worth it if you ask me, ive been using one for around 3yrs maybe, and it is still working. keep in mind that this is a sata2 ssd only, and it wasnt even the fastest back then. I chose intel for reliability even if it was "slower" (back then lots of ssd's have issues). But a slow ssd is still a lot faster than an HDD.
to give an idea, my boot time, is 13sec. and it's been 3yrs. With mech hdd, the more applications you have at startup, the slower it boots, for the ssd, it is still fast.
with that, i am not going to have an HDD for my boot...

Thanks for answering! Yea I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my computer for some time..norton never picked up any viruses and defragging didn't make much noticeable changes. I was assuming it was because I have less than 100gbs on my harddrive out of 1tb, but then again I don't know much. But yea alright that's for helping! I'll get a ssd hoping it'll do something.

Yea, well I just timed it and it took my computer about 3mins and 40secs to load up and show the desktop and then I clicked on Google Chrome, took it 2mins to finally pop up and then it didn't even load to my homepage so I closed it and opened it again which took another 2 mins..after that though there were no more delays..so takes around 8mins for my computer to run well. During start up though there are a lot of applications like steam, skype, download manager, etc.

Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to run a check up on it now with crystaldiskinfo and hddscan but crystal disk info isn't finding it so I'll keep looking for a way to check my hard drives health.
