Hey guys, I just recently purchased a TP-Link TL-PA4010KIT and was working great... until now. Now I have had this product for about a week and has been working like a charm. I have been getting decent MB/s (30/30 when my regular plan is 25/50. Don't ask me how the up is higher when on power line.). Now however, about a week into this product, it suddenly stops. I have had it in the same plug all week long. When I look at the device, I see that the second light is out and that when I unplug it and re-plug it, it still goes out.I have contacted support about this a they say that I need a new socket to put it into but I have been using the same socket for a week! I hope I don't have to return this ;(

Try unplugging both units for a few minutes, then plugging into 2 new sockets. If that works ok, then unplug again for a few minutes and try in the original sockets.

Process of elimination is the only thing I can think of right now!

Solution
You could plug them into 2 outlets in the same room just to be sure the units did not fail....if its going to break it usually does it in the first couple of weeks.

Then I would be suspect of something in the house interfering. Always a huge issue to find it. What I have done is go the circuit panel and turn off every breaker except the ones the power adapters are running on. This will quickly eliminate lots of things. If it still does not work then you need to start unplugging things that are in the same circuits as the power adapters. Plugging the offending device into a extension cord sometimes helps.

Generally it is things with motors that cause the worst issues but I have a LED light that kills them as well as a computer power supply I think there is a bad fan in that took me forever to find.

I did try plugging them into the same room however, I cannot think of anything that could be interfering that was not plugged in the past week or so. If you can help me from here, that would be great bc you seem to know lots about powerline.

It really can be anything....of course simple things like lights are the least likely. It is purely a process of elimination. When I had a bad power supply fan it was intermittent, took me a while to think that the a silly little fan making noise in my computer could cause so much issues. It had been making noise for quite some time before it started to affect the powerline connection.

Still when they don't work at all it is actually easier. You just keep turning off and unplugging stuff until it works. If you get to the point that all that is left is powerline devices then you would have to assume there was some kind of fault in the units.

Hmm looks like I have solved the problem but still have another problem arising. Looks like the second light on the powerline adapter is on and is solid which means the connection is stable. What I did was unplug them for about 5-10 minutes bc I thought they might have been running a little hot. Turns out when I plugged them back in, they had a stable connection. Now however, I am gettign an unidentified network error on Windows 7. Any advice there?
