Alright. I'm going to sound like a huge noob, but I'm at my friends house, and I have my Dell Studio DESKTOP plugged in with an Ethernet cable. It is plugged in perfectly because my computer is recognizing the network, but it has that yellow sign by it and won't let me do anything. We've been looking everywhere - google, forums, the dell website, hell, we even called and all we found was bulls**t. We've done that thing that "enables the network" with no luck. We tried troubleshooting, didn't work. PLEASE help us. This is ruining our night and is no fun at all. We're asking this on his computer which has no issues connecting whatsoever.

Solution
check under windows network (one that connected now) that it set to get dns and ip automatic. if it has a fixed dns number or ip..change it to auto. to see if your system working try logging into his router 192.198.1.1 see if the router main screen comes up. on his router make sure your not plugged into the wan port and the cable your using is a known good cable.
look inside your port make sure there no broken clip or bent pins or metal shield shorting the pins out. on his router if it one from comcast or verizion see that your computer mac addresses is aloud to use the network or it blocked. in the device manager under hardware try turning the network port speed down to 10 1/2 duplex to see if the card or cable or router having a...

Alright. I remembered doing that a few weeks ago. Except I was trying to make a fixed network. Lol, looks like I had to do the opposite in this situation. After about 5 minutes of frustration, I look at my screen to see there is no yellow triangle there anymore. God, we are so happy. Thank you soooooo much! <3 I love you.
