RAM Question (Dual Channel, without 3 RAM sticks?)

Hi there, I have a question that I am not too sure about.
I currently have 2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance on my mobo at the moment running in dual channel. I wanted to upgrade to 16Gb by getting just another 1x8GB RAM module. However I am not sure if this would cancel my dual channel memory or not? My motherboard can only support dual channel memory so would that mean that if I had 4 sticks of memory modules on my motherboard, it would run at 2x dual channel configurations? RAM slot A+B and C+D? Or would it only run a 1x dual channel configuration with RAM slots A+B? With C+D just being normal channel?

Also would it be a good idea to get a 2x8GB RAM bundle and install that for I'll have 24GB? Since I still want to use the 2x4GB, if dual channel works like how I think it would work then that means my 2x8Gb would be in dual channel and my 2x8GB would be in dual channel also.

The only thing preventing me from getting a bundle at the moment is because my CM Hyper 212+ is blocking the RAM slot closest to my CPU and I don't want to upgrade to a liquid CPU cooler yet.

If someone can clarify this for me it would be great!
Any tips to how I should upgrade my RAM? I want at least 16Gb of ram but I don't want to toss out my current RAM just out yet.
Thanks a ton! I know I asked more than one question, it just happens!

Solution
With 3 you'll be in single. Dual channel does not stack. If you have 2 or 4 sticks it's still dual channel, you have 2 channels, it's just split between sticks.
