I am putting this rig together as a gaming build and I would like to know your thoughts.

GA-970A-DS3P
8 gigs of memory Kingston 1600mhz single module
AMD Phenom II 965 BE
Evga Gtx 650 1gb Ti
650w PSU
Windows 7 64 bit
(sad part) 250 gb HDD

I will also have a 120m seidon coolermaster liquid cooling unit for my CPU.
I will be putting it all in the Raidmax Super Hurricane case.
I plan on switching over to the 7870 (660 equivalent I think) and crossfiring it.
Would it be worth crossfiring the 7870 on PCI-E x16, x4 rails?
Let me know what you think! And thanks!!

The Phenom II 965 BE is an out-dated processor. I would highly advise spending the extra money ($10-20) on the FX-6300.
For the ram, you want 2x4gb to utilize dual channel memory.
What is the make and model of the psu?
For the HDD, you can typically find a 500gb or 1tb HDD for a bit more ($5-10).

If you have the budget for a 7870, I would advise you to do so. 7870s lowered in price (at least here in the U.S.A.) and can be found for a bit over $100.

Raidmax cases are low quality. You should try to aim for a Corsair 200R or NZXT Source 210 Elite.

Well, im not buying a new CPU at the moment. I recently bought that one half a year ago and im just going to do a switch to the new Mobo. I guess I forgot to mention that all these parts have been bought (besides CPU,HDD and GPU) and are on the way to my house lol. However, I do plan on upgrading the CPU very soon. Everything will be upgraded in a few months. I bought the 8gb single module because the price was simply unbeatable at 60$. Im going to add a second module in a few short months to get a total of 16gb and possibly even more in the future. As for the hard drive I deffinantly need to upgrade. I was actually thinking about getting a 160gb solid state drive and a 500gb external drive.

I cant wait to get the 7870. But is it okay to crossfire in x16, x4 slots? Or would the bandwidth limit it?

The PSU is generic. I know, that sounds scary.. But it has been running perfect for months now. I plan on upgrading to the Rosswill 750 in a few months as well.

Im really sorry :/ that was bad miscommunication on my end. I have a rig right now. But I did not build it I just upgraded. The mobo I have now is really outdated, its an eMachine. So I decided to just go ahead and start on my first from scratch build. I am keeping the CPU, GPU, HDD and PSU for a short while. (Getting the 7870 next week. I have not bought that yet) Sorry about that lol.
