Issue: PC runs for Odd 20-30 mins & Shut down automatically. Again have to wait for few mins. If I try to start immediately it doesnt start. I have to turn off extension board. wait for 5 mins & then ON the PC. It again runs for odd 20-30 mins & Shutdown automatically.

Troubleshooting done from my end:
-Tried with different SMPS
-Tried Without Graphics card (to check if Graphics Card issue)
-Tried with Other OS Ubuntu 10 LIVE Session (to check if HDD issue)
-Its never over clocked. Had even Restored CMOS to default.
-Tried Repairing with some ref of mine who claims have repaired mother board some IC issue. He claims it works fine at his end.

My PC Configration
Gigabyte Motherboard 1Ghz
1GB Ram
OS: Windows 8
Nvidia Graphics Card

Sorry but whats PSU?
Heatsink is installed properly. I hope there is also an gum type chemical(between Processor & Heatsink. which seems to be dried. Is it bcoz of that?
Forget to mention above, my processor is Dual Core.

The PSU is the power supply unit, usually housed in the back top, or back bottom of the PC. Try pressing your nose up to grill of the PSU (once youve found it). Does it smell burnt in any way in there? faint smell of burnt dust? or plastic? The above post is probably right, sounds like overheating, since it takes time for it to heat up, and doesnt seem so "random". Do you know what type of PSU you have? model #

and it could be possible that a new application of thermal paste will help (that gummy stuff between your heatsink and CPU). you can get some Arctic Silver 5 from a radioshack or online for pretty cheap 5-10$. If you wanted to try that you would have to unscrew the heatsink. Clean the existing goo off with a lint free type cloth (paper towel OK, i dont like tissue it leaves fibers behind, some people use coffee filters. the point is you dont want fibers left behind. Using 70% or higher rubbing alcohol you clean to heatsink and CPU off (dont touch the sensitive underparts of the CPU or the surrounding motherboard)). Once clean, you look up a youtube vid on how to apply thermal paste, you dont want a whole bunch (do you see a bunch coming out the edge/seam right now on your heatsink/CPU???) too much will actually hinder its ability to transfer heat, the idea is you want a THIN layer to fill in the micro cracks and scratches that exist between the CPU and the heatsink, so they just techinically make contact. thermal paste as a medium isnt actually great for transferring heat, but its better than doing so through air (the cracks) and is cheap.

Will try that thermal paste.
However as far as i am understanding, PSU is the same unit which provides power supply to Motherboard, HDD,etc. If thats so I have mentioned above in my troubleshooting as I have tried with different SMPS (which provides power supply to Motherboard,HDD,etc) & same is in back of PC. Hence does not seems to be issue of PSU or SMPS. Pl do confirm

yes that is your PSU and if youve already isolated that isnt the problem, then we can assume the CPU isnt getting the cooling it needs (new cooler or thermal paste or both) or the CPU is acutally failing (seeing as youve singled out almost every other peice of hardware. you ran memtest ?
