Hi all

Here is some background:

I recently bought a new 8320-FX octa-core proccesor, but after i installed this new CPU, the red cpu light on my motherboard stays on and the cpu fan keeps spinning very loud and fast.

My screen stays black so no diplay at all.

I've upgraded my motherboard with the latest bios version and have everything plugged in where it suppose to be.
On the webstite of ASUS it says that my motherboard should support the 8320-fx.

I've checked if the cables are plugged in correctly, if there is any damage to the pins on the cpu or the cpu socket, none of these seems to be the problem.

I have cleaned my RAM, gave it a gentle wipe and returned it with no succes.
I have tried almost everything and spend a lot of hours just to figure out what the problem is.
But when i install the old cpu ( AMD Phenom2 X4 840 3,20GHz) with the same settings my computer boots normal.

Here is some specs:

AMD Phenom2 X4 840 3,20GHz (old CPU)
AMD FX-8320 x8 3.50 GHz Black Edition (new CPU)
Sabertooth 990fx (motherboard)
Cooler Master GX 750WATT (powersupply)
EVGA GeForce GTX550Ti (graphics card)
16gb kingston RAM

I hope that someone out there know the awnser, i realy dont know how i can fix this.

Put your old cpu in, and update your bios to the latest version, then try it again.

i find 2 mobo named 'Sabertooth 990fx'.
SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0, https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R...
SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0, https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FXGE...
Which one is yours? Do you update BIOS with correct mobo?

there are actualy 3 versions of the sabertooth mother board i got the fisrt version
so just the Sabertooth fx-990, thats it

yeah, i find Sabertooth fx-990 on asus.com.tw. BIOS later than 1604 supports FX-8320. As standard process, you should clear CMOS after update BIOS.
are you sure ur FX-8320 works fine on other mobo?
if all above is ok, i think you should contact ASUS. the BIOS certify FX-8320 rev C0. Maybe the BIOS doesnt support new rev FX-8320 u have
