DDr2 vs ddr3

I have a PC with 2 GB of ram DDR3 the configuaration of my laptop is

AMD A4 APU(1.9 Ghz to 2.5 Ghz)
512 mb AMD 6480g + 1 gb 7450m Graphics card
2GB Ram DDr3
L2 cache 1mb

I want to play some games on my Lappie but every time i going to ply its ram goes full so i decided to increas my ram.
So my question is Which ram should i buy is DDR3 or DDR2 of 2GB is there any performance increase i will see by using a DDR3 ram over ddr2 ram or i should purchhase the ddr2 ram because it can save me some Penny.'

pretty simple mate. it ships with ddr3 its a lappy so wont have much in the way of expandability especially on the ram slots ddr2 and ddr3 are physically different so wont fit in the same slot and its very unlikely the motherboard will have extra ddr2 slots.
in fact it states ddr3 and makes no mention of ddr2.

reason i say it wont play a lot of new AAA titles is its a dual core bf3 and 4 require a quad core @2.4ghz minimum. im not saying it wont play some games but it wont play all.

it only supports ddr3 mate.
as for the difference. ddr3 is faster 1s you get over 1333 cas 8, offers more bandwidth in dual channel and tri channel configs.
the a4 isnt really considered minimum spec for tripple A titles things like cod mw2/3 will struggle. bf3/4 are just beyond it.
games you should be able to play will be things like starcraft, halflife, sims.
for that lappy i would recommend you get the fastest ddr3 you can afford. remove the old stuff and sell it on and get 2x4gig sticks of something like ddr3 1866 if the lappy allows it.
best check with the manufacturer before you buy... if you dont want to go that route make sure you buy the same brand, speed and latency as the stick you already have in. dont mix and match any old stick as it will stress components and eventually cause errors or break something.

how you are saying A4 only supports ddr3?

People was reporting that they were able to play FIFA 2011 on it smoothly and many other big titles.Actually I will use this lappie only for one year after that i will rather look at an i5 or i7.mate
