I recently purchased an AMD 8320 and an ASUS M5A99fx Mobo to go with it. This is my first computer build so I was wondering what the difference between this processor and an i7 processor. I'm mainly going to use my PC for gaming and FPS's like Arma 3, BF4 and Titanfall. Do you think it is worth dropping some extra $$$$ for an i7 processor or should I stick with what I have?

Yeah, the 290x is a beast. The FX won't bottleneck it (overclock it BTW :D )

You might see a small FPS boost from the 4770k. In fact, you wouldn't see it anyway, since you'll blow past 60FPS with that setup.

I moved from a Phenom X6 to an i7 2600k.

Was NOT worth it. Graphics card(s) do most of the heavy lifting in today's games. Bench marks and video rendering were the only improvements I saw and those were small.

The hole in my wallet, however, was very large.

Your 8320 is stronger than the X6 I had. Enjoy it.

Thanks all for your quick replies!! I'm using the AMD R9 290x. Do you guys think it would make a HUGE difference if I upgraded to an i7 4770k or will this processor be enough? Thanks!

I have the AMD FX8320 and it plays all games fine. You should get an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock it. I have mine @4Ghz but it goes higher than that. I've had it at 4.2Ghz on stock voltage but not tried to go higher as i have no need for the extra power.
I doubt you will see any difference upgrading your CPU to an i5.I have included a couple of CPU benchmarks for you to look at. Battlefield 4 and Arma 3
