If you do not need monitor or OS and other stuff. Thenthis is good 1000$ build.

If you don't overclock, then I would suggest this build for you :

+ AMD R9-290x = Awesome for mining (Is quite noisy. But you can wait for models of R9-290x with custom coolers. They would be out soon.)

I'm only going to be using it for mining and nothing more, it's going to be sitting there 24/7 mining. Is a 1TB hdd and a dvd/cd needed on a mining rig?

I think I read somewhere that proc and ram didn't matter for mining, or was that only for bitcoin? I'm going to be mining litecoins. :-)

Thanks in advance for the answers!

I am not sure about litecoins. But bitcoin Mining uses raw OpenCL performance which the 290x is awesome for.

But if you are not gaming, then it would be better to go for the Firepro GPU's since they are the best for OpenCL performance.

The more OpenCL performance you have, the faster the process of unlocking the block becomes when it comes to bitcoin mining.

@Axifone : Do you have knowledge about that what Firepro GPU is the best for raw OpenCL performance. Let's replace the 290x with something designed just for OpenCL performance. I am doing my own research, but if you have any knowledge about good Firepro GPU for the money, then please suggest one.

Okay, so after doing a bit of research, this is the best config for Bitcoin mining for your budget. You can see the chart below. 280x Crossfire is little bit more powerful than the 7990. Hence it would perform better than the 7990 which is right now the best GPU for Bitcoin Mining. And as it can be seen, it is way ahead of the single 290x.

Hence go for this build. Built only for Bitcoin Mining.

+ i5 CPU, enough to back up two 280x CPU's
+ Antex GX 700. Cheap case with seriously awesome airflow, for those two GPU's good airflow is needed.
+ two R9-280x which should be awesome for Bitcoin Mining. Even better than 7990.
+ Z77 board. Ideal for dual GPU configs.
+ 250GB HDD. Enough for bitcoin mining.

Also, this rig is awesome for gaming. Hence you can also just buy a $60 1TB HDD and load up all the games that you want to play. This rig is seriously an awesome gaming rig too which can play anything at like seriously 100+ FPS at everything maxed out at 1080p even on most demanding games. So, it can double as a gaming rig too.

I hope this was helpful.
