Will a clean install of windows 8 work even though I'm changing my motherboard?

Yo guys, I'm building a new PC and I am using the same hard drive, but I am upgrading pretty much everything else, will a clean install allow me to use my copy of windows that is already on the hard drive even though I am using a new motherboard?
I am a complete noob when it comes to windows so apologies for the lack of knowledge.

Windows 8 very good at recognising hardware changes, try just dropping your HDD into your new build to see if it copes. You'll probably have to re-activate via the telephone activation service, and check Device Manager for any missing drivers.
Meanwhile, if that doesn't work, or you fancy a fresh start anyway, a clean install will be fine, again be prepared for telephone activation.
