um, no, a videocard isn't necessarily 'made for gaming'... it's made for parallel computing in servers, both AMD and Nvidia's main sourcce of revennue. then, go gain public awareness, brand identity, and allow them to move into new markets (such as APUs), they throw us a bone and change the architecture of the fire pro or Tesla chips and sell them as gaming GPUs.
I'm sure many engineers at AMD and Nvidia like us gamers enough, but these architectures are designed for their computational power.
