A baffling situation.

My wifi works perfectly and then my friend walks through the door, his phone auto connects and my laptop is disconnected instantly. Everything else is still connected, and after that my laptop cannot reconnect to the wifi. I have no idea what's going on and I have failed to figure out why via google.

Yep, a device using a fixed IP that conflicts with the DHCP range would cause the same issue. Simply set both devices to DHCP and see if that solves the problem.

It would still be a good idea to verify how many IP addresses your router can allocate at any given time.

Good luck!

The most likely issue is that your router is restricted in the number of IP addresses it can assign at any given time. I suspect that the "new device" is getting an IP address assigned and your router is kicking off another system as a result.

So what's the solution?

That would make more sense. As there have been other new devices connected and the only conflict has been the phone and my laptop
