My gpu is currently:

"EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card"

Im planning to get the:
EVGA 02G-P4-2663-KR GeForce GTX 660 FTW Signature 2 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card.

I currently have this mobo:

I'v researched that you can't put the two cards in sli, but that you can put them side by side with one of of them handling phsyx, while the new card handles everything else. Is this true? i have a 850w power supply so i think i have enough power to whatever is needed.

the power limit is fine.

my concern is that the new 660 isn't particularly faster compared to the 470. just the unloading of the physics won't do much to speed it up.

perhaps if you can find one you would see better performance out of a sli with another 470.
