Solution
windows 7 definitely. windows 8 is more for tablets and touch screens and if you arent used to it like you are with every other standard windows format you will struggle finding different settings and controls

not to mention its much cheaper

Um? 7 OEM and 8 are the same price, except with 7 OEM you can only use it on one machine ever. 8 you can move as much as you want as long as its only one machine at a time. 8 with classic shell to disable metro makes far more sense than 7 at this point

The only things I have heard are that there are a few conflicts between games and Win8.1, especially having to do with the mouse and some drivers. Otherwise the OS is faster, not just in bootup but in general, and that translates over to games as well, you may not get a better output but you will get a better playing experience. I haven't used Win8.1 though, so I have no point of reference, just repeating what I've read on a few other places. There should be lots of reviews on google.
